Stormy Baker Beach, CA Engagement Session

Okay let me talk about “adventure” real quick.
I advertise that I LOVE going on adventures with my couples because I truly do. I’ve disciplined myself to become pretty good at making the best of situations, and that comes in very handy on days like this stormy December Saturday with Kimmy & Allen. “Adventure” sessions don’t just mean I want to get those pretty, golden shots with you in the mountains or whatever. ADVENTURE means being up for whatever hits us and making the best of it anyways. The couples that I want to work with are ones that will find the positive in any situation we come across and make it amazing no matter what. And that’s definitely what we did?

Kimmy & Allen flew my out to Cali for their engagement session, and to be honest, they were probably expecting a sunny, golden hour sunset session. But about 20 minutes after we got to the beach, Cali decided to give us what felt like a freaking HURRICANE.? It started down pouring on us, and the wind was blowing the rain so crazily that it literally felt like we had just taken a bath within 5 minutes of it starting. I’ve never shot in that type of rain before and it was WILD. Instead of crying about the weather turning to sh*t, though, Kimmy and Allen LAUGHED with me. They allowed themselves to just go with the flow (rain pun intended) and made the conscious decision to make the best of it with me, so that’s what we did.☔️ Their umbrella broke because of the wind snapping it backwards, so we took photos of Allen holding the destroyed umbrella above Kimmy’s head, Kimmy started jumping in puddles, and it was honestly so much fun.? Laughing with these two about how OF COURSE the storm decided to hit the day I arrived, was the best way to spend my time with them.✨

I’m so beyond thankful for these two and their big hearts, compassion, and LOVE for each other. I’m counting down the days till their wedding in April, and I’m so HONORED that I get to keep telling their story!??
